Lee Roy Selmon blends the merits of football scholarship in his family and community service. The first family is his youngest of the nine children born to Lucious Selmon and Jessie. They grew up on a farm in Eufala, Oklahoma. He played second in football and was one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. In 1973, Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the first-teamers for the entire year. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was the best lineman in all of the nation. In his three years as the team's starter, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 and won two national championships. In 1975, the National Football Foundation named him a Scholar-Athlete for the third time in the year 1975. Selmon earned a degree from the University of California at Berkeley. Lee Roy was involved in volunteer work ten hour per week throughout his college years. After college, he moved in Tampa and played nine years with the Buccaneers. He made the All-Pro 3 times. Then he started his professional career. His first job was as an Account Relations Manager at First Florida Bank, Tampa. He has worked in the past for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. He was no surprise that In 1982, The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy among the top ten outstanding young people across the nation. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 lbs in the time he played football at college. The year 1975 was the first time he was on the team. squad. Lee Roy joined the University of South Florida in 1993 as an assistant director of sports. In 1988, Selmon was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. He also made the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 gave their Distinguished American Award to his parents, Mr. and Mrs..
