Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on the 19th of January. 19. 1946 into a very humble family of 12 children eventually included, discovered early that she could escape the hardships of her life by using a vivid imagination. Prior to learning how to write and read Dolly Parton had already begun to compose her own music. When she got her first guitar at age 8, she started to play on radio stations in Knoxville in Tennessee. In the that same year, Gold Band Records was a tiny independent record label. While she was at school, she already established herself within the local arena. But her dream was to to perform at a much larger scale. The singer moved to Nashville following her graduation in 1964. Dumb Blonde (1967) and Something Fishy (1968) were her two first charting albums for Monument Records. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated television show host at the time was searching for a female singer on his show. Parton got her first gig in 1967, signed with RCA Records by 1968, she joined the Grand Ole Opry. The band split in 1974, when her solo songs such as Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene beat out the collaborations. Parton following the breakup of their partnership with Wagoner, wrote I Will Always Love You and saw it climb to Number. The first time that a song hit the top spot.
